How to choose the right electric scooter? – 4 things to consider
Finding the right one electric scooter is an important decision – for many it is not just about transportation, but about freedom, independence and security in everyday life. There are many models with different functions, and it can be difficult to know what you really need. Here we guide you through 5 key considerations that will help you choose the electric scooter that best suits you and your life.
1. Three or four wheels – which type gives you the best balance and maneuverability?
The choice between 3 and 4 wheels is primarily about how and where you want to use the scooter.
- 3-wheel electric scooters often have a smaller turning radius, making them ideal for driving in shops or narrow sidewalks. They are light and more flexible than a 4-wheeled electric scooter.
- 4-wheel electric scooters are more suitable for terrain, for example when riding on gravel, grass, hills or cobblestones. However, they can be a little more bulky and require a little extra space when stored.
Example: If you often drive on asphalt and need to be able to turn in a small space, a model like karma 737 be ideal. However, if you are doing long trips in hilly terrain, a 4 only a more solid choice.
2. How far should you be able to drive on one charge?
Electric scooters come with different battery sizes, which determine the range.
- Short range (10–25 km): For those of you who only use the scooter occasionally – for example, to go shopping, to the doctor or around the house.
- Medium range (30–50 km): Good for those who drive daily in the city and want more freedom.
- Long range (60–70+ km): Perfect if you want to go on longer excursions.
Remember: Range is affected by weight, terrain, wind and temperature.
3. Price, accessories and subsidies – what is the best value for money?
Electric scooters can vary greatly in price – typically from around DKK 18.000 and up to DKK 66.000.
- There are different types of accessories for electric scooters such as baskets, mirrors and cane holders.
- Remember that in some cases you can apply to the municipality and get a grant via the municipalityif the municipality considers that you meet the right criteria.
